A preliminary semantic analysis of the Croatian preposition u and its Slavic equivalents

Sažetak: The subject of this article is a cognitive semantic analysis of the Croatian basic containment preposition u. This analysis seeks to elaborate image schemas underlying stationary contexts with u-locatives and dynamic contexts with uaccusatives. The analysis aims to show general directions of prepositional meaning extensions from the spatial into other domains, as well as point to the convergences and divergences in the usage of basic spatial prepositions in Slavic.
