IDIOMS IN INTERVIEWS AND THEIR PRAGMATIC AND SEMANTIC CHARACTERISTICS

Sažetak: This paper deals with idioms in interviews, focusing on their pragmatic and semantic characteristics. The corpus was collected from weekly magazines published in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The analysis of the corpus was based on the definition of idioms in the narrow sense, and we took a closer look at their functions and semantic characteristics in the text, as well as at the modifications of their original forms. This paper also deals with the text type interview in more detail as an extremely interesting combination of written and spoken language.
